Join us for a Live Auction and Raffle at the Trade Show and Poster Social on Monday night, and a Silent Auction that runs from Monday night until Wednesday at 1PM. We have assembled an exciting array of donated gifts you can bid on, ranging from airline tickets to anywhere Alaska Air flies, to pontoon boats and guided fishing trips, to a delectable assortment of Washington wines, chocolates, and coffee. Proceeds will benefit the AFS Skinner Memorial Fund, which underwrites student travel to AFS meetings.
You can find a list of some of the available auction items here and below.
VEMCO has graciously donated a VR100 Receiver. This general-purpose ultrasonic receiver is widely utilized by fisheries professionals to track aquatic animals and offers flexibility to track coded or continuous tag types simultaneously and to collect other telemetry data such as temperature, depth, and acceleration.
Lotek has also graciously donated a WHS 4000 submersible receiver. The WHS 4000 is a compact, highly sensitive, lightweight, submersible data logging receiver for use with JSATS AMT coded acoustic transmitters operating at 416.7KHz for deployment in a wide range of fisheries applications.
Elsevier, Academic Press donated the recently published 3-volume set of Encyclopedia of Fish Physiology: From Genome to Environment. This is the definitive encyclopedia for the field of Fish Physiology and looks to be a valuable addition to any library.
We anticipate these professional items will be in high demand. Agencies should get pre-authorization and come prepared to bid!
If your interest is more to where to spend your next vacation, we have you covered. Alaska Airlines has donated several round trip tickets that will allow winners to escape to a warm beach after a long winter staring at computer screens, or perhaps a trip to a far away fishing adventure that has always been on your wish list. It’s your choice, really, since these tickets are roundtrip to any location served by Alaska Airlines flies (including Hawaii). Happy trails!
Additional auction and raffle items featured this year will include frozen fish (black cod, pacific cod, and sockeye), Dungeness crab, two inflatable river pontoon boats, an inflatable kayak, rod and reel combinations, guided fishing trips, scenic sea plane trips, a getaway weekend, outdoor gear, Pacific Northwest art and, since this is Seattle, beer, wine, coffee, chocolates and books.
The live auction will take place Monday September 5 from 8:00 to 8:30 pm during the evening Tradeshow and Poster Session. The silent auction will extend from Monday until 1 pm on Wednesday the 7th. In addition, raffle tickets will be sold throughout the event for a chance to win a variety of exciting local and regional items.
